How we work
Families Renewed is a faith-based 501(c)(3), founded in 2013, working with children and families in crisis. Our service area runs the Harrisburg–Baltimore corridor, centered on York County, Pennsylvania. We do not turn people away; when someone falls outside what we do, we point them to an organization equipped to help.
We work in two ways. Rescue is stepping in to resolve the immediate emergency on a family's behalf. Assist is working through it together, so the family holds the tools afterward. We assist wherever we can, because that is what actually leaves a family stronger — and we rescue when there is not enough time to do anything else.
What we can help with
We are not licensed therapists and we do not provide therapy. Some of us are trained peer counselors who have worked crisis lines, and we can listen, talk with you, and help you find the right professional care.

What we can do:
- Talk with you as a peer, and help you think through next steps
- Refer you to mental-health professionals in the area
- Offer guidance and support to parents of children and teens who are self-harming or struggling with suicidal thoughts
- Bring LifeBST to your school or homeschool, so students learn these skills before a crisis

Our housing assistance is temporarily suspended. We are not currently able to take new requests for rental or utility grants. We would rather tell you that plainly than have you wait on us.

We intend to reopen this program. If you have a heart for families facing homelessness and want to help us get there, we are looking for you.

Our own work here is preventive: Writing A New Story supports children living with the aftermath of abuse, and Leading With Love teaches fathers discipline that teaches rather than frightens. We work alongside established organizations in this area rather than duplicating them.
